Salang Medical-Dental Health Camp 11-15 Oct 2009  -  

EPF Nepal in coordination with Medical Mercy Canada conducted the Fifth Health Camp at Salang in Dhading Nepal from 11 October to 15 October 2009. The Salang Health Camp 2009 mainly focused on three major health needs, common in the countryside of Nepal: gynecological care (women’s health issues), dental services and General medicine. In addition, the Education Program consisted of “mini” workshops on the importance of clean water and healthy sanitation practices; information on Leprosy diagnosis treatment; and discussion groups of women’s health, family nutrition and illness prevention. Another important program at the health camp was teachers’ training. Altogether 2087 people got the health services at the Camp.

Medical team of Nepal was lead by Dr. Rosan Kumar Jha, and Foreign Volunteer Team was led by Elsi James, the Representative of Medical Mercy Canada. Mr. Ramesh Prasad Dhamala, the chairman of EPF Nepal chaired the inauguration and closing ceremony of the Health Camp followed by Mr. Ravi Bhatta introduced the main participants of the camp. Local leaders, national and international volunteers were presented along with many residents at 7:00pm, 15th Oct. 2009 for the closing ceremonies.

Ms. Elsie James and Mr. Ramesh Dhamala (Bhai) on behalf of Medical Mercy Canada presented volunteer Certificates to all participants.
