Health Camp 2009  -

Ecological Protection Forum Nepal (EPF Nepal) in collaboration with Medical Mercy Canada (MMC) is going to conduct Health Camp 2009 on General Medical, Gynecological and Dental Health Service from 12 October 2009 to 15 October 2009 in Salang, Dhading Nepal. Doctors, Heath Assistants, Hygienists, nurses from Canada, UK , US ,Australia and Nepal will provide volunteer services to the patients. It is the fifth Health Camp conducted by the partner organizations EPF Nepal and MMC.
The Salang Health Camp 2009 focused on three major health needs, common in the countryside of Nepal: gynecological care (women’s health issues), dental services and General medicine. In addition, the Education Program consisted of “mini” workshops on the importance of clean water and healthy sanitation practices; information on Leprosy diagnosis treatment; and discussion groups of women’s health, family nutrition and illness prevention. A very popular children’s program was presented everyday with skits, songs and games teaching personal hygiene and oral health. To cope with the numbers of children (around 300 each day) was challenging and rewarding at the same time. Teachers at the local school volunteered to help control the “traffic” and to see that as many children as possible had a chance to participate. Another important program at the health camp was teachers’ training.
