Health Camp in Khalte, Dhading (17 Oct,, 2008)  -

Ecological Protection Forum-Nepal was very happy to participate once again with Medical Mercy Volunteer Team from Canada, USA,UK and Nepal to host a mobile health camp in Dhading District. In 2005, the Camp was located at Shree Sangkos Secondary School in Sangkos VDC, in 2006, the Camp was located at Shree Mahendrabarahi Secondary School in Katunje VDC and , in 2007, the camp was located in Maidi VDC. This year it was located at Khalte VDC of Dhading district,so that we could serve residents of west part of Dhading, where people are hard to receive medical service from public facility.

Two weeks prior to the scheduled Camp, we promoted the event by handbills and posters in our target area. In addition, 6 times a day local broadcasts through 2 radio Stations to inform our program. We had cooperated with overseas partners to organize annual health camp for the past 2 years to bring our mobile medical team to reach those remote areas where medical service is only a term of hope, but hardly come to their real life.
However, to find a suitable location to hold a large scale of medical camp with all of facility and resource is never an easy task. Local work force is sufficient, but basic facility and equipment for medical team, food and accommodation for nearly 80-100 volunteers are taken extra effort and expense to set up our camp for 3-days service from 19 to 21 Oct, 2008. Our team departed on 17th Oct. to set up the Camp, and took another day to wrap up our camp equipment and sent our Nepali volunteers. One of the biggest challenges of this program is that we expect people in need could come and receive our service; on the other hand, it is hard to estimate the number of patients that will attend the clinic. According to our experience and budget capacity, 2000 patients were estimated. But 1651 pationts took the services from the Camp.
